Welcome

The department of Cross-Cultural Studies was launched in 2006 in the Faculty of Letters, Kansai University. The aim of the department is to provide Japanese and English language-based education in the cultures of the English-speaking world, guided by an up-to-date understanding of cultural studies theories, and set within a cross-cultural perspective that references the cultures of Japan, Europe, and Asia.

At present, our department includes five full-time faculty members who have research interests in fields such as: African-American culture and history, ecocritical cultural studies, globalization theory, American art history, Japanese and American comparative history, gender studies, food and drink culture, aesthetics, and popular music. We accept approximately 60 students per year into our B.A. program, and have an M.A. program as well.

This journal is meant to be a showcase for the best undergraduate theses submitted each year, as well as research essays and working papers written by graduate students and professors. At present, we are not soliciting outside submissions.
